France: What will soon change for motorists

The union explains that a new obligation will take effect every five months in 48 sectors.

In the absence of snow tires, motorists in the affected areas should have metal or textile snow chains that can fit at least two driving wheels. In case of violation, the driver can be fined 135 euros and his vehicle will not move.

48 departments have been affected by this Act

Here is a list of areas where the law will come into force from November 1, 2021: Ain, Allier, Alps-de-Hot-Provence, Hots-Alps, Alps-Maritimes, Ortaz, L’Ariage, Ad, Avron, Condall, Chorus, Code-d’Or , Cruise, Dope, Trom, Kart, Hot-Crown, Herald, Isare, Jura, Lower, Hot-Lower, Lot, Loser, Merde-et-Moselle, Moselle, Nivre, Buy-de-Dome, Pyrenees-Atlantics, -Pyrenees, Pyrenees-Oriental, Bass-Rin, Hot-Rin, Ron, Hot-Sine, San-Ed-Lower, Savoy, Hot-Savoy, Dorn, Torn-Er-Car, Vaucluse, Haute-Vienne, Vosges, Yonne , Territoire de Belfort, Corse-du-Sud and Haute-Corse.

In these areas, priorities should determine the list of municipalities subject to this obligation.
