“She was the one who kidnapped and killed her.”

This is one of the most mysterious cases of the 21st century. Fourteen years after Madeleine McCann departed during her vacation in Priya da Luce in Portugal, we still do not know what happened to that English woman. If several paths were followed, at that point, without success, it would be an unexpected turn of events to re-open the case and finally give the family hope to find out the truth.

Last year Christian Bruckner was named as the main suspect in the disappearance of model McCann at the age of 3. The man, who is currently serving a seven-year sentence, is known for other similar facts. He is also in jail for raping a 72-year-old American man in Algarve in 2005.

If the suspect in Maddie McCain’s disappearance still denies it, German lawyer Hans Christian Walters firmly believes he is responsible for the disappearance. Even without the body or the DNA, Hans Christian Walters is “100% sure” that Christian Bruckner was “the one who kidnapped Maddie,” the Mirror reports.

No hope

He said they now have the evidence to charge him and hope to complete the investigation next year. This investigation is also delayed because the suspect is in jail: it is difficult to gather evidence. However, the German lawyer is optimistic. “Now we can accuse. We have the evidence now. But not only is he being accused, we want to accuse him with the best evidence,” he told the British media.

So investigators take their time to put together a solid case to find out the whole truth. “I’m not saying it’s not enough to be with us now. But he’s in prison, so we do not have that pressure. We have free time,” said Hans Christian Walters.

After all, the evidence is still missing: “We have no evidence that Madeleine is dead” (which, in defiance of Braunschweig’s announcement, confirmed that McCann’s parents had evidence that their daughter was no longer alive, the author’s note). “I can’t say on what basis we assume she died. But we have no other choice. We have no hope that she is alive,” he concludes.
