In early July 2021, Minister of Equipment and Transport Abdelkader Amara announced that the sea route between Tangier and Portimao in Portugal would be operational.
The launch of the Tangier-Portimio sea line has been confirmed. In an interview Le360, Equipment and Transport Minister Abdelkader Amara said the sea route between Tangier and Portimao in Portugal would be launched in early July. “As I speak to you, the Director of the Merchant Navy is in Lisbon to provide final contact for the agreement to be signed between Morocco and Portugal,” he said.

In total, two ships flying the Moroccan flag will be added to the service. They will make two trips a day with 4000 people a day. According to Abdelkader Amara, the crossing time between the two ports will be about 7 hours and “reasonable prices” will be used. He also announced the launch of two new sea links recently: Chad-al-Hoshima and Savon-Danger.
