LA spokesman for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Arban said on Sunday that the head of state had denied the possibility of leaving the EU.

On Saturday, the Hungarian prime minister, in front of his supporters in Budapest, confirmed that the EU was waging a “holy war, jihad” under the slogan “Rule of Law”.

At the same time, he called on the EU to show “tolerance” for Hungary. Otherwise the common path cannot be followed.

A few days before the European Court of Justice (CJEU) ruled in Luxembourg on the new EU legal framework, Mr. Orban spoke.

Under the scheme, countries violating the principles of the law can withdraw funds from the general EU budget. Hungary and Poland complained against this mechanism, which was adopted in December 2020. The CJEU is due to release its decision on Wednesday.

The German press company “made a mistake”, Mr. Kovacs underlined. “I wonder if they heard the same speech (…) made by DPA journalists,” he added.

“We want the EU to be united. If we can be united, the EU has a future,” said Mr Orban’s spokesman.
