Boku no Natsuyasumi It is a long-running Japanese series that contains, with Strange and bad exceptionIt was never officially released in the West. this is shame! While publishers let us down, fans step up and deliver the goods.
The best translation of this series is My summer vacationstarted in 2000 on PS1, and each game is about much the same thing: a kid who is away with his family for summer vacation, and you are given control of him as he spends his days roaming the countryside, collecting bugs and making friends.
While (somehow) we got a file Shin ChanIn the past year, no major game in the series has been officially launched in English. And it probably never will, so it’s great that Hilltop is —whose work we have featured here before— leads a team working on the release of the “English translation” patch for the second game in the series, Boku no Natsuyasumi 2.
Set in 1975, this takes you away to spend 31 days at your uncle and aunt’s bed and breakfast in a small town on the southern coast of Japan. She has one of the greatest covers in all of video games:

While we’re on the subject, The latest Nintendo Direct was revealed Natsu Moon: Summer Vacation in the 20th CenturyA completely new game Writing and designing Boku no Natsuyasumi Series creator Kaz Ayabe, and developed by his studio Millennium Kitchen. No word on an English version for this, but with interest in the series finally coming out here in the past couple of years, there’s always hope!
