CWarning message to executioners of the Bashar al-Assad regime who have taken refuge in the world: You will never be safe again, anywhere on the planet. Syrian torturers can no longer come without punishment to receive treatment in Geneva or to go shopping in Brussels without being bothered by the court.
After one and a half years and 108 days in court, German judges sentenced Anwar Ruslan to life in prison. A former colonel of the Syrian Secret Service in charge of the Al-Qaeda prison in Damascus has been convicted of 27 counts of murder, assault and battery, rape, kidnapping, hostage-taking and sexual abuse, as well as “crimes against humanity.” Between 2011 and 2012, at least 4,000 people were tortured under his command, and 30 prisoners lost their lives.
