Sony WH-1000XM4 Noise-canceling headphones have been one of the top choices since they debuted in 2020, but it looks like the company is gearing up to launch the next generation. German technology news site Tech News Posted some Pictures and specs The successor, apparently called the WH-1000XM5 (via Gizmodo).
The first thing you might notice is the sleek new design, especially the thin headband. The 1000XM3 sec And 1000XM4 sec They were nearly identical, but Sony could change the way things look for the new 1000XM5s.
Instead of the capped arm that rotates, the arm is exposed, with a single point of contact replacing the XM4’s larger folding hinge over the ear cups. This changes the design of the ear cups as well, but it means there’s a bit more room for things that affect what you hear.
This arm looks slimmer than the previous design and can contribute to a lighter weight and hopefully not give up any strength and durability. Like Gizmodo pointing (via Diary And Walkman Blog), the filings for the FCC and other regulators that identified a new model were monitored in February. One of the main elements revealed is that the FCC label has moved, from the headband itself to the bottom of the ear pad, which Walkman Blog The speculation could mean that the bracelet is now made of metal instead of plastic.
Photos of the leaked models in its carrying case show a design that forgoes the foldable XM4 that put one cup inside the other. However, in these photos, it seems doubtful that it would take up much more space on a desk, easel, or in your bag.
to me Tech News Retail source, the WH-1000XM5 will have an estimated battery life of 40 hours with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), 10 hours longer than the XM4, and with a total charging time of 3.5 hours via USB-C, about 30 minutes longer than the XM4. They also reported that it will use two ANC processors instead of one, and the sound will be produced by a new driver, although there are no details on what has been changed. They still use three microphones to pick up your voice and detect noise to cancel it out, but the situation has changed.
The button previously labeled “Custom” is in the same place as before but is now marked NC/Ambient, which probably reflects what most people use, rather than the built-in voice assistants or something else.
Last year’s model iterated on its award-winning predecessor with “Speak to Chat,” which mutes music if you hear you’re trying to talk to someone, and multipoint Bluetooth audio that stays connected to more than one device at a time. The last feature was more useful, although there were some glitches at launch. Software updates helped it work better, but any improvement in helping the headphones decide which device to connect to and when would be welcome.
No word on pricing or release date, but the WH-1000XM4 costs $349.99 at launch, and retailers love it best buy And Amazon Keep this price today.
